Introduction
During the 1950s, American entertainment began focusing on the teenage population. American Bandstand began as a small show in Philidelphia in October 1952 where local teens could come to dance. The show aired nationally in 1957, and from then on became a mainstay for rock group performances, and the local teens became instant celebrities. American Bandstand became teenagers around the county's way to learn the new hip dances and to keep up with the hottest music.
